Slovenië benoemt zeven ambassadeurs voor Europees Jaar van actief ouder worden (en)

Slovenia's authorities launched the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations on February 16th in Ljubljana, during an event in which the objectives of the year and its seven high-profile National Ambassadors were presented to the public.

Andrej Vizjak, minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs; Blaž Kavcic, President of the State Council; Marjan Sedmak, president of AGE Platform Europe; Mateja Kožuh Novak, president of the Slovenian Federation of Pensioner's Organisations, and Sara Berglez, representative of the National Youth Council of Slovenia, presented the goals and initiatives programmed for this year throughout the country.

Professor Bernd Marin, director of the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research, delivered an inspiring and energetic lecture titled “Welfare without work and solidarity? Idleness and Activation in Ageing Societies”.

A debate about the quality of life of the elderly in Slovenia and other active ageing issues followed, with the participation of Aldo Ternovec, representative of the Slovenian Federation of Pensioner's Organisations and University of Ljubljana professors’ Valentina Hlebec and Tine Stanovnik.

Aleš Kenda, Slovene coordinator of the EY 2012, presented the seven National Ambassadors of the year, who will be involved in several activities along the year :

The event also included an exhibition area where national organisations were able to present their activities, projects and good practises on active ageing and intergenerational solidarity.
