Noorwegen lanceert Europees Jaar van actief ouder worden en solidariteit tussen generaties met rapport over demografische veranderingen (en)

The European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Between Generations in Norway was launched on January 31st in Oslo by the Minister of Employment, Hanne Bjurstrøm.

During the event, the report "Senior Political scenarios" conducted by the research institution Fafo on behalf of the Centre for Senior Policy, was presented. This report makes an important contribution to better understand the challenges and opportunities the demographic changes will result in Norway.

The number of citizens living in Norway between 55 and 75 years will increase sharply in coming years. Over the next 15 years the group will increase by over 300,000 people, and by 2030 they will be a total of 1.3 million people. This means that approximately every fourth citizen in Norway will be a senior in 20 years. The core group of seniors between 60 and 70 years alone will cover more than 700,000 people.

The Centre for Senior Policy has been commissioned by the Ministry of Labour to assume the role of national coordinator for the EY 2012 in Norway. All the information and activities about the year in Norway is published in the dedicated website http://www.seniorpolitikk.no/european-year-2012
