Nog een paar weken om deel te nemen aan wedstrijd 'Design Eleven - 2011' van EESC (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité (EESC) i, gepubliceerd op dinsdag 5 april 2011.

The EESC Design Eleven - 2011 "European Design Award for a Sustainable Present" is aimed at design students and designers from the 27 EU Member States and European designers living elsewhere in the world. Around 150 applications from 21 countries have already been received and more are expected to arrive before the deadline on 30 May 2011. Participants should base their design on the theme of "Intergenerational solidarity in times of an ageing population" and create solutions that are innovative and relevant in terms of “ageless design”. The processes used to obtain the final product can include participative design, such as end-users taking part in the design process and/or co-design, meaning cross-generation team-building or collaboration between young and older designers.

This initiative, which aims to raise awareness of sustainable design practices and innovation, is supported by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry, CUMULUS (International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media) and EIDD (Design for All Europe).

The design award was launched by the European Economic and Social Committee in 2009 to raise global awareness of social and civil society issues.
