Tsjechië krijgt missschien zelfde uitzondering op verdrag als Polen en Groot-Brittannië (en)
The EU Presidency's point of departure is that the Treaty of Lisbon shall enter into force as quickly as possible. All Member States, apart from the Czech Republic, have concluded their ratification processes.
In the Czech Republic, President Klaus has put forward objections concerning the Charter of Fundamental Rights. There are already today exemptions for Great Britain and Poland from this charter.
“From our contacts with the Czechs and the interview given by President Klaus this weekend, I am very optimistic that the Czech Republic will sign the Treaty of Lisbon, provided that we find a solution to the objections put forward by the Czech Republic”, said Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt to the media today.
The Presidency has also been in contact with various Member States to see which solutions would be viable and expects the issue to be discussed at the summit held next week.
