Tsjechisch voorzitterschap houdt chatsessie (en)
Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek i and Deputy Prime Minister Alexandr Vondra will answer online questions from the Czech and foreign general public in the European chat running at the website of the Czech EU Presidency.
The Czech EU Presidency website www.eu2009.cz is the first Presidency portal to introduce the European chat. During the six months of the Czech Presidency, Czech as well as European politicians will answer online questions asked by the Czech and foreign general public. Everyone will thus have a chance to ask the politicians directly about the EU Presidency, as well as other issues that have been discussed at top-level meetings. The chat primarily aims at bringing EU issues closer to the general public.
The first politicians to answer questions from the Czech and foreign general public, in the second week of January, will be the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Mirek Topolánek, and the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Alexandr Vondra. Prime Minister Topolánek will be on the chat on Tuesday, 6 January 2009, Deputy Prime Minister Vondra on Friday, 9 January 2009, after the informal meeting of the General Affairs Council.
The chat will be conducted simultaneously in two linguistic versions - in Czech for the local public and in English for readers abroad. The general public as well as media representatives may ask their questions concerning the Czech EU Presidency several hours in advance. After the chat has been closed, the most interesting questions and answers from both linguistic versions will be published in the ’News and Documents’ section on our homepage www.eu2009.cz.
