Met dank overgenomen van Frans voorzitterschap Europese Unie 2e helft 2008 i, gepubliceerd op maandag 1 december 2008.

The full version will be launched on 1 January 2009 when the Czech EU Presidency starts. The website is launched in advance, so that journalists can get accredited in time for the events and readers can find basic information.

About the website

The official website of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council, www.eu2009.cz, is the main means of communication for the Presidency during the first half of 2009. It has been prepared for both Czechs and the public abroad. This website is a pool of important information for the general public, experts and media representatives about the events taking place during the Czech Presidency, about the Czech Republic as the country holding the Presidency, the European Union and its policies and opinions of the Czech Republic about them. All information will be available in three languages - Czech, English and French.

Web Goals

The website of the Czech Presidency has been prepared for anyone who is interested in the European Union and in European events. At the website, media representatives will find all the important information they need for their everyday work. The "Media Service" section, where they can find practical information about the Presidency events, including how to get accredited for them, has been prepared specifically for media representatives.

Information for the Public

The website offers a lot of information and interesting topics for the general public. Individual columns, devoted to the past and present of the European Union or the country holding the Presidency, are written in a readable and interesting way. Moreover, they are illustrated with photographs taken specifically for this website, and audio or video samples. Visitors of the website can also test their knowledge in one of the interactive games and quizzes entitled "Europe without Barriers".

Website Editors

The five website editors are in charge of the operation, functioning and daily update of the website. The headquarters of the team are in Prague, but when important events take place, they will move to the venue of each meeting. Three photographers, who work for the website editors’ team as external members, are the official photographers of the Czech EU Presidency and are responsible for all photographic material from events taking place in the Czech Republic.
