Frans voorzitterschap presenteert prioriteiten justitie en sociale zaken aan het Europees Parlement(en)
Traditionally, at the beginning of each six-month Presidency, the ministers come to debate with the MEPs in specialised committee sessions to present their programme and priorities.
For most of the European Parliament's twenty specialised committees, these exchanges have already taken place during the different committee meetings held on 15, 16 and 17 July 2008.
As the Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) has not convened since 1 July 2008, it will meet for the first time since the summer recess on 9 September at 11.00. At this Committee meeting, Rachida Dati, French Minister of Justice, is to meet JURI MEPs to debate with them the priorities set by the Presidency of the Council in their field of expertise.
The Employment and Social Affairs Committee (EMPL i) learned of the Presidency's priorities at a meeting in June 2008. To continue these discussions, Martin Hirsch, the French Government's High Commissioner for Active Solidarity against Poverty, will meet the EMPL MEPs on 10 September at 15.00 to debate the priorities of the Presidency of the Council to combat poverty. These will namely address the principles and tools of the active inclusion strategy for people furthest from the labour market.
