The meeting of the Education Committee concluded today, 28 June 2008, in Brdo pri Kranju, bringing to a close the work of the Slovenian Presidency in the area of education and training.
During the Slovenian Presidency there have been 12 Committee meetings, chaired by Mr Mirko Zorman of the Ministry of Education and Sport. The Committee is a preparatory body which draws up and coordinates materials for consideration by the EU Education, Youth and Culture Council. The Committee is made up of representatives of the Member States and the European Commission. During the Slovenian Presidency, they have made a contribution towards successfully fulfilling all the Presidency's priority tasks in the area of education and training.
This week's Committee meeting adopted papers on promoting mobility in the area of vocational education and training, which will help improve quality and enhance mutual trust between Member States. The Slovenian Presidency gave a presentation of the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean University.
