ECOFIN Council Conclusions 8 November 2005 (09/11/05)

Main Results of the Council

The Council adopted a decision under article 104(8) of the treaty establishing that Hungary has failed to comply with its recommendations on the measures needed in order to bring Hungary's budgetary deficit below 3% of GDP by 2008.

It adopted conclusions on reducing the regulatory burden on business, calling on the Commission to start measuring burdens as part of integrated impact assessments of new EU regulatory proposals as from January 2006.

The Council also adopted conclusions on measures to be taken in order to improve the quality of statistical data to be used in the assessment of member states' budgetary situations, as well as on improved controls for the EU budget.
