Let’s help Europe to become the best place in the world for collaborative research on future and emerging technologies. The aim is to renew the basis for future European competitiveness and growth, thereby making a difference for society in the decades to come. You can read below news from two calls.

FET Open supports early-stage research on any idea for a new technology. There are no pre-defined themes. It encourages scientists and engineers from multiple disciplines to work together on game-changing science and technology research, expanding well beyond the traditional technological disciplines. It also encourages proposals with new and promising ideas and coming from new high-potential actors in research and innovation (such as young researchers and high-tech SMEs), who may become the scientific and industrial leaders of the future. Overall, FET Open will receive 40% of the total FET budget in Horizon 2020.

30 September marked the first cut-off date for the call H2020-FETOPEN-2014-2015 (RIA). A total of 643 proposals were submitted to the Research Innovation Actions (RIA) which has an indicative budget of 77 M€. The evaluation for this first batch of proposals already started on October 1st. This call is an open call, meaning that applicants can submit their proposals at any time, but the evaluation takes place twice a year with two cut-off dates. The next cut off dates are on 31/03/2015 (ca. 38.5 million) and 29/09/2015 (ca. 38.5 million€), for the Work programme 2014-2015 .

The total budget for the H2020-FETOPEN-2014-2015 (RIA) is 154 M€.
